Windsbacher Knabenchor

Voice culture for 70 years

Since its foundation by the former Crucian Hans Thamm in 1946, the Windsbach Boys Choir has shaped and musically connected generations of young people. More than 1,500 boys and young men have spent a crucial part of their lives in the Windsbach Sängerinternat. The boys, who were then admitted to the choir, now belong to the generation “80 plus”. Young singers who come to Windsbach today could be their grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Choir director since 2012, the successor Hans Thamm: Martin Lehmann, also a former Crucian.

With annually up to 50 appearances in Bavaria, in Germany and abroad, the choir year thousands of concert visitors. The Windsbacher wrote history when they were the first German post-war ensemble in Israel to perform the unabridged St. Matthew Passion. Unesco World Heritage Foundation Zollverein Essen

Unesco World Heritage Foundation Zollverein Essen

Messe Frankfurt

Messe Frankfurt

As one of the world’s largest exhibition companies with its own exhibition grounds, Messe Frankfurt is in a position to provide exhibitors with access to international markets and visitors with an insight into current products/solutions and trends in specific industries. Leading international trade fairs in particular, such as Ambiente, Texcare, Automechanika, IFFA, Musikmesse and Light+Building, help to shape markets and trends.

A FACELIFT FOR THE FESTHALLE

Messe Frankfurt’s Hall 2, the so-called Festhalle Frankfurt, can accommodate some 15,000 people in a space of 5,646 square metres and therefore provides plenty of space for international conferences, exhibitions and trade fairs, sports and music events. Given its direct links with the rest of the exhibition grounds, the available space in the Festhalle can be increased almost infinitely. The Festhalle was planned by the well-known Munich architect Friedrich von Thiersch and, as the world’s largest self-supporting domed building, was celebrated as a modern architectural marvel upon its inauguration in 1909. Over the course of many years the Festhalle has gained an excellent reputation as a concert venue, where so many greats of the music business have appeared.

The existing festival hall was completely stripped out and refurbished.

One of the most important objectives was to install practical, well-designed furniture. The chairs had to offer flexibility and be light yet comfortable and of premium quality.

The solution for this project was the 580 Series. Furthermore a new armrest was developed, which visually reflected the distinctive architecture.

International Congress Center Munich

International Congress Center Munich

The International Congress Center in Munich is one of the top venues for staging large conferences and events. With a seating capacity of up to 7,000 plus 8,000 m² of exhibition space, it is one of the world’s top high capacity centres. In order to stay ahead of the competition in the congress/conference industry, the ICM sets great store on the most effective use of space. In this respect seating plays a significance role. The ICM chose 5,000 seats from Mauser’s 570 Series, because it was persuaded by the chair’s high level of functionality, particularly its rapid reconfiguration capability.

The investment made by the Munich Trade Fairs International Group (MMI), under whose wing the ICM operates, will pay off. The new chairs offer an exceptional level of comfort. High backrests and comfortable seats ensure that visitors do not get tired of sitting, even during the longest conferences.

However it is not only congress visitors that benefit from these new seats. Staff at the ICM are also enthusiastic. The chairs are light and can be stacked to save a great deal of space. A Mauser patent enables you to fold the armrests automatically. This detail enables a large number of chairs to be stacked vertically on a small footprint. In November 2004 the number of seats was increased by 450 more Series 570 chairs.

Porsche Arena in Neckarpark Stuttgart

Porsche Arena in Neckarpark Stuttgart

The Porsche Arena is located within a complex containing various entertainment, sporting and event venues that is unrivalled in Europe. Tucked into the NeckarPark between Stuttgart and Bad Cannstadt, this area provides a wide range of entertainment options and sights.

The following are located in close proximity to the Porsche Arena:

  • Fairgrounds for one of Germany’s largest and oldest festivals: the “Cannstatter Wasen”
  • Gottlieb Daimler Stadium, home of 2007 Bundesliga champions, VfB Stuttgart
  • Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle
  • Equestrian stadium and various other outdoor sports grounds
  • Mercedes Benz Museum
  • Carl Benz Centre

By building the “NeckarPark”, the city of Stuttgart has become one of the very leading sporting venues in Europe. The new Mercedes Benz Museum is one of the world’s most visited museums. The approx. 60,000-capacity Gottlieb Daimler Stadium has staged a large number of major outdoor sporting events. For more than 20 years the Schleyer-Halle has been a top venue for national and international high-performance indoor sport. A large number of athletes of all kinds have become world and European champions in Stuttgart and been feted by sports-mad crowds. In 2006 another highlight was added to the NeckarPark to complete the duo of indoor arenas. The Porsche Arena, with its well-thought-out overall design and flexibility, is an ideal venue for a wide range of indoor sports, cultural and business events. There is space for 6,200 people in the stands surrounding the oval-shaped indoor arena. The flexible-reconfiguration arena can accommodate a further 2,500 visitors. Depending on the event, the seating in this area can be quickly reconfigured to match the specific requirements of users in each case.

Mauser SitzKultur, based in Twistetal near Korbach in Hesse, was chosen to supply the seating for the stands and the stalls, beating off intense competition.

Mauser SitzKultur’s high level of chair manufacturing expertise and experience in furnishing event venues provides key benefits to the client when selecting a product.

The main selection criteria for the chairs included:

  • attractive design, which dovetails with the architecture
  • high degree of seating comfort, to enable people to sit comfortably for long periods
  • longevity and robust finish for heavy-duty use
  • rapid set-up and dismantling for cost-effective operation of a hall

The decision was made in favour of the 570 Series chair. Nowadays this chair, which was designed by the Stuttgart-based Hircheteam, continues to represent solid dependability for a wide range of arenas and event venues. We at Mauser SitzKultur are particularly delighted that a chair that was designed in Stuttgart some years ago is now able to play a part in making exciting events in a wonderful new hall in Stuttgart such a success.

Community center Bergischer Löwe – Bergisch Gladbach

Nowadays the multifunctional rooms in the Bergischer Löwe Community Centre in Bergisch Gladbach, redesigned in 1980 by Gottfried Böhm, are utilised in a wide variety of ways. Philharmonic concerts, musicals, cabaret, theatre productions and other events, such as the grand antiques market, breathe life into the building and are elaborately staged in the Bergischer Löwe. Many loyal Bergischer Löwe visitors are theatre season tickets holders.

Since the old chairs had got a bit long in the tooth, a decision was taken in 2006 to purchase new chairs from Mauser SitzKultur. The 540 Series evento system was adapted to meet the client’s requirements and around 800no. chairs were supplied. Today all visitors benefit from comfortable new seating.

Neuhaus-Saal in the city theatre Regensburg

Neuhaus-Saal in the city theatre Regensburg

A classic chair in classical surroundings

White/golden colonnades dating from 1803/1804, heavy chandeliers hanging from the ornamentally painted ceiling, finely-patterned oak parquet flooring: the “Neuhaussaal” in the City Theatre in Regensburg got its classical countenance back, when restoration work was completed in 2001. Given the successful refurbishment, which borrowed heavily from historical guidelines, the planners faced a huge challenge when it came to the seating. The decision was taken after a two year selection period in favour of the certino chair, designed for Mauser by Prof. Stefan Lengyel.

With this seating, the City Theatre in Regensburg had come full circle back to the original function of the “Neuhaussaal”. The “Neuhaussaal“ was used as far back as the Wilhelminian period as a great hall, in which cultural and social events were held. Concerts, readings and balls took place here – additional use of a theatre that was customary 200 years ago, which today only features in multipurpose municipal halls.

The restored “Neuhaussaal“ remains true to this tradition: now that the general refurbishment has been completed, concerts, seminars, lectures and social events are staged here.

Velodrom theatre Regensburg

Velodrom theatre Regensburg

The “Velodrom“, which was built in 1897-98 by Simon Oberndorfer as a cycling venue, was saved from demolition by the committed efforts of the Velodrom Vereins e.V. and was refurbished, converted and reopened by Oswald Zitzelsberger. It served as an alternative venue during the three-year refurbishment period at the Theater am Bismarckplatz and today is still used as a venue for musicals, ballet and plays. A fully operational stage and seating for 620 people can also be hired during any gaps in the calendar.

When it was first built, the “Velodrom” met the requirements of the inhabitants of Regensburg for a large, modern event venue for meetings, festivals and concerts. A notable feature back then was the steel roof structure. The refurbishment work revealed the bold elegance of the steel structure. It straddles the entire 25-metre width of the building and makes the interior pleasantly spacious. It only took a few years for this venue to become established as the “largest and most attractive entertainment venue in the square”, featuring theatre and vaudeville performances, balls and even circus events.

Gymnasium St. Xaver Bad Driburg

Gymnasium St. Xaver Bad Driburg

The mission school in an idyllic countryside setting, which started out in 1916 with 20 pupils, has been transformed over the years into the extensive Gymnasium St. Xaver complex, consisting of the following buildings: assembly hall/chapel and old school building (1924/25), small sports hall (1953), indoor pool (1959), large sports area (1965), boarders’ facilities (1967), Zenker building (1971), new school building (1973/76) and large sports hall (1976/77).

To mark the school’s 90th anniversary in 2006, Mauser SitzKultur supplied 350no. visually attractive, comfortable legno 525 chairs to furnish the assembly hall. This large assembly hall not only hosts assemblies or school initiations but also classical concerts and theatrical performances. The combination of classic architecture and modern seating gives the hall a new atmosphere.

Neues Gewandhaus Leizpig

Neues Gewandhaus Leizpig

The hexagonal “Mendelssohn Hall” has a maximum capacity of around 500 seats. Besides concerts, where people sit in rows, congresses, meetings and banquets of all kinds are staged in the Mendelssohn Hall. The chairs can be configured to suit each individual occasion, and modern communications technology ensures that people giving lectures or speeches appear in the right light and that information is optimally communicated. Thus for example interpreter booths are just as much part of the hall’s equipment as an entire sound studio.

The extension of the stage in 1997 and the attendant reduction in the size of the auditorium meant it was necessary to get rid of the old seating. The new seating system was required to maintain the original seating capacity without sacrificing audience comfort, as well as be versatile.

The “Gewandhaus” management decided to go for the particularly compact and comfortable evento multipurpose chair from Mauser. The light, sweeping design of the evento adapts well to the architectural features of the hall and underlines the self-contained character of the venue.

At the time of this project, evento was the newest generation of versatile multipurpose seating from Mauser. The chair is the right choice in several respects. Starting with the low weight of only 7.5 kg including armrests, through the innovative ganging system to its stackability of up to 15 chairs without leaving any pressure marks on the upholstery, the evento represents a symbiosis of well-thought-out design and the highest quality materials.

German Schauspielhaus Hamburg

German Schauspielhaus Hamburg

The first meetings in relation to the refurbishment of the seating in the “Deutsches Schauspielhaus” were held in April 2004. At first the theatre was looking for suitable platform seating, distinguished by a high quality standard and an above-average level of stability. Easy handling was also a requirement, as was flexibility of use. The chair would be used as a visitor chair for theatre events as well as for banquet seating. The decision in favour of Mauser’s 570 Series chair was taken very quickly. The chair met all the requirements of this project.

When the decision to premiere Goethe’s ”Faust“ at the end of October, the plans were implemented. The plan was that the audience would not just sit on the existing theatre seating, but one wanted to involve them more in the drama. For this purpose seats were to be provided on the stage. The requirement was to find a chair that could be adapted to such an extent that it visually fitted into the theatre, without disturbing the overall harmony of the interior. At the same time, it would need to be a chair that could be used for other purposes after the performance of “Faust”. The purpose was to kill two birds with one stone. The frame was powder-coated in black, to avoid possible light reflection. Seat and backrest were made of black-stained beech. A plush fabric cover was pulled over the chairs to give the impression of genuine theatre seating.

Municipal hall Eisenberg

Municipal hall Eisenberg

“Actions speak louder than words”, observed the prominent speaker, SPD boss Franz Müntefering, on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Municipal Hall in the Friedenspark, converted from a former Magnet store. It offers people the opportunity to get together – for family celebrations, to enjoy music, films, theatre, club anniversaries and for many other types of occasions. With a capacity of 480, seated at tables, and of 650 for concerts, the hall is very large for a place the size of Eisenberg, but the money has been invested wisely. “I should like to thank you for always representing Eisenberg in such a worthy and self-confident manner, and hope you will continue to do so”, said Mayor Ingo Lippert to Gunther Emmerlich and presented him with his certificate of honorary citizenship.

Right at the start of the planning stage, the architect, Ms. Fötsch, already had a basic idea of how the chair that was going to be used, should look. It should exude sobriety and have a square backrest. Mauser’s certino was able to meet these requirements. Beyond that, the chair has a “floating“ backrest, which lends a particular lightness and transparency. The whole process from planning to completion of Eisenberg Municipal Hall lasted nearly two years. The chair plays a major role in the overall design, since important features are reflected elsewhere in the installation.

Hanseatic Event Centre Bremen

Hanseatic Event Centre Bremen

The ultra-modern Exhibition and Congress Centre houses 7 halls with plenty of space for every kind of event: in Hall 1, the Municipal Hall, mostly concerts, shows and sporting events are staged. In the neighbouring exhibition halls 2 to 7 a good mixture of trade fairs, exhibitions , corporate presentations and creative events are staged. The Bremen Congress Center can accommodate both large congresses and conventions and smaller conferences and workshops.

In May 2003, the Event Centre was furnished with 1,000 new Mauser 570 Series chairs. A particular challenge was to meet the requirement that only seating with armrests was to be installed. Mauser was able to meet this requirement by developing a special ganging device. Besides cost efficiency, stability, comfort and handling were important selection criteria for the Event Centre, when choosing new seating.

Civic Centre Burgkirchen

Civic Centre Burgkirchen

Even while it was being built, the modern architecture of the Burgkirchen Civic Centre attracted attention. The opening of the civic centre in May 2005 added greatly to the social, economic and cultural life of the community on the River Alz. For the absolute flexibility to stage events, which the building with its grand hall and seminar rooms provides, the concentration of a music school, a library, mother/children facilities and a modern restaurant all under one roof, have created a veritable culture and communications centre in the heart of Burgkirchen. The civic centre owes its modern, attention-grabbing design to the planning work done by the architect Horst Biesterfeld.

“And even if the world is full of demons … we should still be able to…” The Civic Center in Burgkirchen on the Alz opened with a bang. Directed by Martin Lüttge and Marlen Breitinger from the “Theaterhof Priessenthal“ around 60 clubs and groups from Burgkirchen, numbering more than 500 people, moved into the new building during the course of a unique performance, laden with symbolism. They finally entered the building in a long procession that wound its way via a stage in front of the Civic Centre. Inside the building the inhabitants were welcomed by a choir of 100 and by an orchestra with 75 musicians, to sing the “And even if the world is full of demons…” choral from a Bach cantata and thus inaugurate the Civic Centre.
